Lateef Adedimeji earns five AMVCA 2026 nominations including best lead actor and supporting categories, as The Herd tops the list with nine nominations

Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji has emerged as one of the biggest winners in the nominations list for the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), securing a total of five nominations across major categories.

The nomination list, unveiled on Sunday night, places Adedimeji in contention for Best Lead Actor, alongside two separate nominations in the Best Supporting Actor category.

His film Lisabi also earned a nomination for Best Indigenous Movie, while additional recognition came in other competitive categories.

The strong showing makes the Lateef Adedimeji AMVCA nominations one of the standout highlights of this year’s edition, further cementing his growing influence in the Nigerian film industry.

Also notable in this year’s nominations is The Herd, directed by Daniel Etim-Effiong, which leads the pack with nine nominations across both major and technical categories. The film is widely regarded as one of the strongest contenders for multiple awards.

Veteran actress Sola Sobowale received dual nominations in both lead and supporting actress categories, reflecting her continued dominance in Nollywood performances. Actor Uzor Arukwe also appeared in multiple categories, underscoring his versatility and rising profile.

Meanwhile, actress Genoveva Umeh earned her first-ever nomination for Best Lead Actress, marking a significant milestone in her career and highlighting the emergence of new talent within the industry.

The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, organised annually by MultiChoice, celebrates outstanding achievements in television and film across Africa, with winners determined through a combination of jury decisions and public voting.
