Nollywood actress Victoria Inyama has issued an emotional apology to the public following widespread backlash over her recent comments on female genital mutilation during an online discussion.

Victoria Inyama Issues Apology for FGM Remarks which came after the actress sparked criticism for remarks made during a live Instagram session, where she referenced her personal experience with female circumcision and described it in a manner that drew strong public condemnation.

In a follow-up video shared on Daddy Freeze’s Instagram page, Victoria Inyama expressed regret over her statements, admitting that she had been uninformed about the full implications and realities of the practice.

She said her understanding of the issue was limited at the time of the discussion and that subsequent conversations with medical professionals and close associates helped her grasp the severity and harm associated with female genital mutilation.

The actress further acknowledged that her earlier comments were misleading and clarified that her personal experience did not reflect the broader and often traumatic reality faced by many women subjected to the practice.

Victoria Inyama described the experience as a learning moment, stating that she now recognises the importance of being fully informed before speaking on sensitive social and medical issues.

She added that she deeply regrets any distress her comments may have caused, stressing that she did not intend to undermine or trivialise the experiences of others affected by the practice.

The actress concluded by reaffirming her commitment to being more informed in future discussions and using her platform more responsibly.
