Patience Ozokwo says she is proud of her wicked roles in Nollywood, noting they exposed societal ills and shaped her acting legacy

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwo, popularly known as Mama G, has said she remains proud of the wicked roles she portrayed throughout her acting career, explaining that the characters helped expose deep-rooted societal issues.

The award-winning actress made the remarks on Thursday, June 12, 2026, during an interview in which she reflected on her decades-long journey in the Nigerian film industry.

Patience Ozokwo stated that although she became widely known for playing strict mothers-in-law and villainous characters, her real-life personality is completely different from the roles she portrayed on screen.

According to her, the characters were intentionally crafted to reflect realities in society that people often avoid discussing openly.

She said the roles were impactful because they brought attention to social ills and human behaviour patterns that exist in everyday life, helping audiences reflect on moral values and consequences.

“I feel proud because it exposed the ills in society,” she said. “Those things happen, but nobody wants to talk about them. I am not like that in real life, but I am proud of myself for playing those wicked roles.”

Her comments have continued to generate reactions from fans and social media users, many of whom praised her contribution to the growth and evolution of Nollywood storytelling.
