Veteran Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has urged colleagues in the film industry supporting the All-Progressives Congress to reconsider their stance, citing growing insecurity and moral responsibility.

Speaking in a video broadcast on Monday, Aiyeola appealed to fellow actors and public figures to prioritise conscience over material gain, warning that political loyalty should not come at the expense of national well-being.

The Opeyemi Aiyeola APC support remarks followed a recent attack on Christians during Palm Sunday in Jos, an incident that has drawn widespread concern but, according to the actress, has not received sustained public attention.

Aiyeola described the situation as troubling, noting that political distractions often overshadow serious national issues.

She cautioned that influence, affluence and financial incentives should not cloud judgment, especially at a time when many Nigerians are grappling with insecurity.

She stressed that while individuals are free to align politically, public figures carry a responsibility to reflect on the broader consequences of their choices.

The actress added that decisions made today would shape how future generations assess the current moment.

Observers say the intervention highlights growing tensions within Nigeria’s entertainment industry, where political affiliations have increasingly become a subject of public debate.
