Nollywood star Odunlade Adekola is under fire after congratulating Nigeria Police’s PR officer Muyiwa Adejobi on his promotion

The Police Service Commission elevated Adejobi from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), recognizing his professionalism. In response, Adekola took to Instagram to publicly celebrate the achievement.

Many Nigerians criticized Adekola for appearing to endorse a police system widely perceived as failing the public, citing ongoing issues of misconduct, corruption, and lack of justice in high-profile cases.

One user pointed out Adejobi’s involvement in controversial cases like Omoyele Sowore’s detention, accusing the actor of ignoring injustice. Another labeled the promotion a “curse” due to the police’s history of oppression.
