In a recent interview with BellaNaija, Mercy said her 2019 victory not only transformed her life but also became a symbol of empowerment for women who had been told they could not achieve greatness.

“I came into the show prepared. I was ready. And when I won the show, I did it for all the young women who have been told that they can’t. I did it for all of us,” she shared confidently.

Mercy, who made history as the first female winner of the BBNaija series, paved the way for other women to follow, including Phyna in 2022, Ilebaye in 2023, and the recently crowned Imisi in 2025.

She credited her preparation, focus, and self-belief as key factors that powered her to victory. “Confidence was everything for me. I knew who I was and what I wanted to achieve,” she added.
