Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has addressed growing controversy surrounding one of her known fans, Motun, as allegations of a fraudulent contribution scheme linked to her name continue to circulate online.

The Iyabo Ojo fan scandal Motun gained attention after reports emerged that Motun, who built her social media identity around being the actress’s biggest supporter, allegedly organised an “ajo” contribution scheme involving members of the public.

According to the allegations, participants were told they would receive returns on their contributions and gain access to meet the actress.

However, some contributors later claimed they neither received payouts nor refunds, while others alleged they were blocked after demanding explanations.

As the situation escalated, Iyabo Ojo was drawn into the controversy due to Motun’s online association with her brand and perceived influence among fans.

Addressing the matter during an Instagram Live session, the actress firmly distanced herself from the allegations, stressing that she never appointed Motun as a representative or ambassador of her brand.

Iyabo Ojo explained that while she has shown appreciation to loyal supporters in the past, such gestures should not be misinterpreted as formal endorsement or involvement in their personal activities.

The Nollywood actress also issued a stern warning, stating that Motun should cease any further promotion of her work and return a premiere ticket previously given to her.

The Iyabo Ojo fan scandal Motun has sparked wider discussion online about influencer-fan relationships, personal branding, and the risks of unofficial fan-led initiatives being associated with celebrities.

The actress has recently found herself at the centre of multiple public conversations, including clarifications about her relationship with goddaughter Fola Tinubu and her involvement in a promotional video highlighting upgrades at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

She previously defended her decision to participate in the airport campaign, stating she was not paid but agreed to help promote national development efforts out of goodwill.

Iyabo Ojo has also faced past public scrutiny, including an EFCC invitation over money spraying at a family event and earlier online backlash tied to public controversies involving the late singer Mohbad.
