Williams stated that she could have taken time away from the spotlight but chose to persevere for her mother, her legacy, and her passion project.

“I am Faithia Williams Balogun and this project is a purpose wrapped in frames and films,” she wrote, reflecting on the significance of her first major cinematic debut.

Her film, Efunroye: The Unicorn, tells the story of 19th-century Yoruba merchant and political figure Efunroye Tinubu, who played a central role in the history of Lagos and Abeokuta.

Faithia Williams serves as both lead actress and producer for the project.

“Before Lagos became an empire… Before power was negotiated in palaces… Power had a name. EFUNROYE. The Unicorn. Merchant. Legend. Kingmaker,” she wrote, highlighting the historical significance of the figure she portrays.
