She was buried shortly after in accordance with Islamic funeral rites, with footage of the solemn ceremony going viral online.

Emerging reports suggest that Bukky Mountain had been struggling with health challenges in recent months, frequently admitted to hospital as colleagues and well-wishers sought financial assistance on her behalf.

Despite these efforts, the actress’s condition deteriorated, culminating in her sudden passing.

The burial, captured in now-viral footage, shows mourners offering prayers as her body was lowered from a hearse.

Although some colleagues attended, the turnout appeared modest relative to the public prominence of the actress.

Bukky Mountain’s death marks the third significant loss in the Yoruba film sector within four months, following the passing of actresses Aunty Ajara in January 2026 and Allwell Ademola in December 2025, who reportedly died of cardiac arrest.

Social media has been awash with condolences and tributes.

Industry watchers have expressed concern over the growing health challenges facing veteran actors, pointing to the urgent need for support systems within the sector.
