Speaking on a recent episode of the Dear Ife podcast, Aiyeola opened up about her former habit of taking sides in disputes involving friends, colleagues and acquaintances, even before hearing the perspective of the other person involved.

The actress said she used to support people close to her by automatically adopting their disagreements as her own, a decision she later realised could create unexpected consequences.

“I have been in a situation where I have taken a fight that are not mine. I do inherit my friends’ beef to an extent. I have done that before,” Aiyeola said.

She explained that the habit was not limited only to close friendships, adding that she had also defended acquaintances and colleagues during disagreements.

“I did it even without hearing from the other person,” she added.

Bisola Aiyeola inherits friends’ feuds as she reflected on a moment when she supported someone in a disagreement, only for that person to later reconcile with the individual involved and leave her feeling isolated.

“But I have also been in a situation where I inherited someone’s fight and then they eventually settled and I became the outsider. So, I told myself it’s not everybody’s fight and beef that I would inherit,” she stated.

The actress said the experience taught her the importance of allowing people to handle their personal conflicts rather than becoming directly involved in every disagreement among friends.

However, Aiyeola also shared that she has personal boundaries when it comes to friendships and relationships. She said she would struggle with maintaining a friendship if someone close to her became romantically involved with a former partner.

“I don’t expect people to inherit my beef but if I have an ex-fiance and my best friend decides to bond with him, we are not friends,” she said.

She added that she has previously distanced herself from men who were involved in conflicts with her close friends, explaining that loyalty remains an important value for her.

Aiyeola’s comments have sparked conversations about friendship boundaries, emotional loyalty and the difference between supporting loved ones and becoming involved in disputes that require personal resolution.
