Afrobeats sensation, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, better known as Ayra Starr, has opened up about her feelings towards her music after recording.

In a candid interview with *Rolling Stone*, the rising star admitted that she rarely likes her own songs after they’ve been recorded, always feeling they could have been improved.

Ayra Starr explained that, no matter how many times she listens to her tracks, she always believes they could have been better. She described this feeling as an ongoing struggle for perfection, saying, “I usually don’t like my songs after recording. It’s so bad.

I don’t even know why. I just feel like it can get better and better and I just keep trying to go go go until it’s perfect.”

However, the Afrobeats singer made an exception for her hit song “Woman Commando,” which features Anita and Coco Jones. Ayra Starr revealed that this was one track where she felt completely satisfied, stating, “But ‘Woman Commando’ was that song that I was like, okay I went crazy on this one.

This is dope.” She expressed that, unlike her other tracks, “Woman Commando” sounded perfect to her every time she listened to it.

In the same interview, Ayra Starr also shared some of her musical influences. She mentioned that she listens to artists like SZA, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, and Rema in her free time, drawing inspiration from their work.

Ayra Starr’s honesty about her creative process further connects her to fans who appreciate the vulnerability and drive for perfection that underpins her artistry.
