Actor Adeniyi Johnson has confirmed that his proposed celebrity boxing clash with fellow Nollywood star Lateef Adedimeji will hold on October 1, 2026, after securing sponsors for the highly anticipated exhibition match.

The actor disclosed the update in a social media post on Tuesday, revealing that preparations for the showdown had already begun.

Adeniyi Johnson had earlier stirred reactions online after publicly challenging Lateef Adedimeji to a boxing fight and appealing to sponsors to support the event.

Providing a fresh update, the actor declared that the fight was no longer a joke and warned fans supporting Lateef to prepare for what he described as a brutal encounter.

“You guys thought it was a joke abi?!!!

“If you are an @adedimejilateef supporter, please stay away and warn him!!! It is going to be brutal,” Adeniyi Johnson wrote.

The actor also revealed that Nollywood personality Jigan Babaoja would serve as the referee for the exhibition bout.

Adeniyi Johnson further stated that he was searching for a coach and trainer ahead of the fight, while calling for more sponsorship, partnership and promotional support.
